San Diego State traveled to Wichita, KS, for a tourney, while everyone else stayed out west. Nevada and Boise State opened their home seasons, and Fresno State and San Jose State continued to play strong schedules at the demanding Judi Garman Classic. New Mexico welcomed Detroit (2-14) for a 3-game series in Albuquerque, while Utah State stayed in Southern California to play in Riverside. Colorado State's home opener Friday was snowed out.

San Diego State 11, Wichita State 5 - Aztecs defeat their tourney hosts (8-7).
San Diego State 4, MO-Kansas City 2 - Aztecs hold off the Kangaroos' (5-11) seventh inning comeback attempt.
San Diego State 10, Iowa State 1 (5 innings) - Aztecs scored all of their runs in the final three innings to erase an early deficit against the Cyclones (14-5).
Long Beach State 8, Fresno State 0 (6 innings) - Bulldogs got only two hits vs. 49ers (15-6) ace Erin Jones-Wesley in their first loss of the season vs. an unranked team.
Cal State Fullerton 9, Fresno State 2 - Four early errors doomed the Bulldogs against the Titans (14-7).
Cal State Fullerton 5, San Jose State 2 - The Spartans committed five errors to hand Cal State Fullerton (14-7) the victory.
Long Beach State 3, San Jose State 1 - Erin Jones-Wesley held the Spartans to five hits in a win for Long Beach (15-6).
Nebraska 4, San Jose State 1 - Spartans stranded 11 and committed a pair of errors in losing to the Huskers (13-7).
New Mexico 6, Detroit 5 - Lobos rallied for five runs in the seventh to send Detroit (2-14) to a 14th loss in 16 games.
UNLV 6, Charleston Southern 1 - It was a combined 4-hitter that sent the Rebels to the win over the Buccaneers (10-11-1).
UCLA 8, UNLV 0 (6 innings) - The Bruins improved to 18-1 and held UNLV to three hits.
UC Santa Barbara 6, Nevada 2 - The Pack lost its home opener and its second game to the Gauchos (12-5).
Boise State 3, Indiana 2 - A late rally allowed the Broncos to send the reeling Hoosiers to a staggering 31st loss in their last 34 games (2-31-1).
Idaho State 9, Utah State 4 - The Bengals (11-7) pounded out 15 hits in the win.
UC Riverside 5, Utah State 2 - The Highlanders (12-7) won for the seventh time in their last eight games
