2015 Mountain West composite schedule released

The 2015 composite schedule in Mountain West softball has been released, and things will start off with a bang on the opening weekend of conference play.

Four of the top five finishers from 2014 will face off in head-to-head action March 20-22 as conference play begins.  And those four are likely to be the top four projected teams for 2015 as well.

Defending champion San Diego State will play host to UNLV to begin Mountain West play, while Fresno State will travel to Fort Collins to meet Colorado State.  In 2014, the Aztecs (16-8) finished just one game ahead of the Rebels and Bulldogs (15-9).  The Rams (13-11) were one of six MW teams to end the 2014 season with a winning record in conference play.

Other opening weekend Mountain West series in 2015:  Boise State at San Jose State, and New Mexico at Utah State.  Following the same pattern as last season, there will be one midweek series (April 7-8) when teams play a Tuesday doubleheader, followed by a Wednesday single game.
